12 tips for beautiful and healthy nails

Learn how to get beautiful, strong and healthy nails!

We all love having beautiful nails, but this is not always easy. Let’s face it, most of us don’t have time or money for a manicure every week. Also, everyday life involves cooking, cleaning and many other activities, where our hands and our nails suffer. Even washing your hands has negative consequences on them. What can you do? Well, you can’t stop living your life, but there are some tips that will help you take good care of them.

1. Moisturize

Moisturizing is very important for your skin, but also for your nails. You will find many creams that are ideal for moisturizing both your hands and your nails – check the label. Use it regularly.

2. Wear gloves

It’s important to wear gloves, when you are cleaning, in order to protect them from all the chemicals. Also, keeping them for a long time in water, will make them soft and weak.

3. Soften your cuticles

Use a cream or oil suitable for softening and caring for your cuticles. Use it daily.

4. File them correctly

You should file them in one direction only. Avoid metal filers, they can cause great damage.

5. Buff them

Buffing will help them look smooth and shiny. They will look great, even without nail polish. But don’t overdo it with buffing, especially if you have soft nails.

6. Eat the right foods

Your diet is the most important factor for your health and for your beauty. For strong, healthy nails, add more Calcium to your diet. Vitamins B are also important. If you have white spots on your nails, you need to increase your intake of zinc.

7. Keep them sort and round

Extremely long and sharp nails are very vulnerable. They break easily. Regular trims are also very important for their health.

8. Give them a salt bath

Salt bath will help you avoid brittle nails. Add 4 tablespoons of salt into 1 liter of water and soak them for 15 minutes. Dry them well afterwards.

9. Soak them in chamomile

If they are becoming yellow, make some chamomile tea, leave it aside to cool and then soak them in it for 15 minutes. Try this twice or three times a week.

10. Give them a break

You should let them breath from time to time, avoiding nail polish for certain periods of time.

11. Avoid acetone

Don’t use acetone based polish removers, they will damage them seriously.

12. Clean your tools

You should clean your nail tools well and very often, if you want to avoid bacterial infections.
