6 clever ways to make a small room look bigger than it is!
We all love a spacious home, with big rooms. Unfortunately, most of us live in small apartments, with small rooms. You don’t need to worry about that; there are ways to make a small room seem much bigger, therefor much more comfortable and hospitable. Your house is a place where you should feel relaxed and comfortable, no matter how small it may be.
Follow the tips below and enjoy every room in your home, even the small ones.
- Paint it with bright, light hues
Dark colors can make a space feel small and tight. So, choose bright colors in light hues, like off white, cream, light pastels for your walls. They will make your room feel airy and open.
- Choose your furniture carefully
When you have a small space, you should choose your furniture wisely. Go for multifunctional pieces and try to leave as much space open as you can. If you leave a relatively big surface of your floor empty, your room will seem bigger. You should also try to put bulky pieces against the walls; moreover, you should prefer that they are painted in light colors or even better, the same color as the walls, so that they don’t feel like dominating the space.
- Use mirrors
A big mirror on a wall will give your room depth and it will give the illusion that it’s twice its size. Mirrors also reflect light and they make it brighter.
You should enjoy every room in your house, no matter how small it may be.
- Let the light in
Get as much ambient light in your room as you can. It will make it bright and open. Also, add as many artificial lights as you can, so that you can substitute ambient light in the evening or on a cloudy day.
- Go easy on the decoration
You shouldn’t load your room with many decorative items. Go minimal, if you want your space to look bigger. For instance, don’t fill your wall with many small paintings, choose one piece instead; you want a relatively big surface of your wall to be clear. Don’t display too many items around, they will make the space look crowded.
- Keep it clean and tidy
Once you make all the right choices for your room, remember that it’s important to keep it always tidy and clean. Don’t leave clothes, newspapers, magazines or other things just lying around. Your space will look crowded and tight. Also, you should consider using essential oils to give your room a fresh scent – I love them! They will add a positive sense to your space.
