Why you need a digital detox right now

Learn the benefits of a digital detox and change your life!

I’m sure you’ve tried many different kinds of detoxing for your body – you can find a natural detox here, if you are interested. But, when is the last time you did a digital detox? And why is that so important?

What is a digital detox?

Digital detoxing means that you are switching off all mobiles, smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers for a certain period of time. It may be for a day or even more – that sounds scary, right? No more checking your emails every 5 minutes, no more posting on Instagram or checking your Facebook feed, no more notifications. You pretend that your smartphone – tablet – laptop don’t exist!

The benefits of a digital detox.

First of all, you are doing your eyes a huge favor! You are giving them a chance to rest and recover. Also, you have a chance to really relax and rest, without the constant buzzing and ringing, that keeps you and your nerves on the edge. You can find peace – yes, that is possible! You will even get a better sleep at night.

A digital detox will certainly improve your relationships. You will be able to connect with others, start a discussion, share your feelings, enjoy more quality time with the persons you love. Try to share your detox with others in your environment. Encourage them to join you – that would be ideal. In this way, none will be distracted by social media or other digital distractions.

You’ll be surprised of how your mind will start working in better and more acute way. You’ll become more focused. You may even find the solution to that problem that’s been bugging you for so long! It will give you the chance to put things in a new perspective.

If you have worries about how a digital detox can influence your productivity at work, well, don’t! You are not missing out, on the contrary, you will become more focused at work. If, for example, you decide to detox on weekend, you will find yourself full of energy on Monday morning, full of ideas and with a more positive attitude.

So, why don’t you give it a try! I know I am in a desperate need of one!

Have you ever tried a digital detox? How did you feel?

  1. I love the post and I will definitely share it with my husband. he is on phone most of the time. This is the best way i think and help him also.

    1. You should definitely share this with him. Sometimes it’s hard for a person to realise that he/she needs a digital detox. So, those who are close to him/her need to take action and help them. 🙂

  2. You know it is so important, your mind can become clouded and frazzeled! I find myself on social media and digital platforms till crazy hours of the night, now switch off a few hours before bed to help settle my body and mind.

    1. Yes, I’ve been there! Now I also try to give myself a break a couple of hours before sleeping; although sometimes I have to work late on my pc. I am trying to change this, but sometimes it’s inevitable. 🙂

  3. I can always tell I need a digital detox when I notice that I’m starting to compare myself to others. Either with their pretty photos on Instagram or wonderful words in their posts. If I step away from everything for a couple of days I’m able to re-find my center and engage online again.

    1. I totally agree with you! Lately I’ve been on my smartphone/pc a lot – blogging isn’t easy, it involves a lot of interaction on social media. It’s easy to lose yourself at some point. You need to give yourself and your mind some time to breath and refocus.

  4. It’s not easy but I think anyone can do a digital detox! I have done that and yes as you said actually it gives you more energy, focus, and peace.

    1. It’s not easy for everyone; some people are so addicted, that they don’t even realize that they need a digital detox. But once you’ve tried it and you know its benefits, it’s easy to do it again. 🙂

  5. Digital detoxes are such a great invention LOL. Like for real, we are always getting so consumed that it adds up overtime and digital detoxes helps us relieve and relax.

I tried one a couple of months ago and even wrote about it — but I gotta do one again!

    1. It’s been a while since I had a digital detox, but I’m planning one soon. I work in front of a pc long hours, then I have to write on my blogs, then I need to keep up with my social….. it’s been crazy lately. 🙂

  6. I’ve never tried digital detox, I think it is so hard for me to do. I can’t imagine my life without my devices and Internet because they’re part of my daily routine and work.

    1. It’s difficult for me too, but I do it from time to time. You should try it, you will find it very refreshing! 🙂
