9 tips to save your skin this winter
The weather is changing and winter is knocking our doors! Our favorite sweaters have come out of storage, our winter rugs are making our homes warmer and our favorite warm beverages helps us relax by the fireplace. But the weather conditions are really harsh on our skin, so we need to take extra steps in order to protect it and keep it healthy. Just follow 9 easy steps for a beautiful and healthy skin.
1. Moisturize well
It’s essential to moisturize your skin well, because it suffers both outdoors, due to cold weather, and indoors, due to dry air, caused by the heating systems we use. When skin is moisturized well, it becomes stronger and less prone to damages, cracks and fissures, so it protects us better. Germs can enter a damaged skin easier and they can create many skin conditions. So, change your light moisturizer to a richer one, preferably one rich in oils and apply it regularly.
2. Cut out hot showers
You certainly love a long hot shower or bath in a cold winter day, but it actually can do more harm than good, because it strips your skin from natural oils, leaving it dry and vulnerable. So, you’d better take short, more lukewarm showers, use a moisturizing shower gel instead of soap and, of course, moisturize your skin immediately afterwards.
3. Use a humidifier
A humidifier can be really helpful for your skin. So, if possible, use one in your workplace, but also in your home. It will make the indoor air more friendly to your skin.
4. Wear sunscreen
The sun may not be as dominant in winter, but its radiation can still damage your skin. So, do not forget to wear sunscreen. A product with at least SPF 15 should be applied daily.
5. Wear gloves
Gloves usually come out in very cold days, but you should actually wear them every winter day. Although the cold might be mild, it can still damage your skin. Gloves and moisturizing is the way to go, if you want beautiful hands!
6. Stay hydrated
You know that you have to drink a lot of water during summer, but it’s essential also in winter. A well hydrated body, means a well hydrated and beautiful skin. It may be harder to drink enough water in winter, because you don’t feel as thirsty, so you may find certain apps, that work as a reminder, very helpful.
7. Adopt a healthy diet
A healthy diet, full of fruits and vegetables is also recommended, if you want a healthy, radiant skin, ready to fight all weather conditions. This, of course, applies for every season, not only winter.
8. Go easy on the alcohol
Winter comes with a lot of celebrations and holidays, where the consumption of alcohol is usually increased. The cold weather makes a drink seem more ideal, but alcohol can really damage your skin, so go easy.
9. Reduce stress
Stress is your number one enemy. It can harm you in so many ways and, eventually, it also shows in your skin. Many people find winter to be a more stressful period, so you have to find ways to relax and fight the winter blues. Try to see the positive in everything and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
So, no matter the season, you can look fabulous and you can have perfect skin. What do you think?
