5 easy steps for cleaning your dishwasher.
You use it every day in order to clean your dishes. Someone would think that while you are washing your dishes, you are also cleaning your dishwasher. But that’s not the case! Food remains, grease, soap scum and hardwater residue can cause damages. Also, they can make your dishwasher smell badly.
Here is what you can do, in order to clean it easily, in 5 steps!
1. Clean the drain
Remove the bottom rack, so that you can access the drain filter. Remove it properly, clean it well and put it back. All models have a drain filter, even the small ones. If you are not sure how to remove it, read the instructions given in your manual, so that you can remove it without damaging your dishwasher.
2. Check the spinning arms
Sometimes food debris can clog the holes, preventing the water from running. Check them carefully. Take a toothpick and clear them out.
3. Run a wash with white vinegar
Put a dishwasher-safe container on the top rack and pour in a cup of white vinegar. Close the door and run a cycle with hot water. White vinegar will remove any debris, grease and hardwater residue. Not to mention that any bad odors will disappear!
4. Finish with baking soda
Sprinkle a cup of baking soda across the bottom. Run a short cycle with hot water and enjoy a shining, clean dishwasher.
5. Clean the seal
Take a cloth and damp it with white vinegar. Wipe well around the seal of the door. If there is accumulated dirt, you can make a paste out of baking soda and water and apply it. Then take an old toothbrush and scrub well. Wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth.
It’s important to clean your dishwasher often. At least once a month is recommended. Now you know how you can do it easily!
